What
is it?
A
very bright, very bubbly in your face online dating site
How
does it work?
Signing
up involves filling in a few basic details (height, smoking and
drinking habits) writing a headline and a profile and uploading
a photo. You can then run a search and the results are emailed to
your inbox or you can choose to block people or see who's blocked
you.
Who
does it attract?
A
man who had a photo of himself cleaning out the fishpond and one
guy who looked so much like Gareth Gates, I'm still not convinced
it wasn't him. Photos don't have to be approved like some of the
stricter sites, which means there is no delay in getting them online,
but can lead to some eccentric choices...depending on how you loook
at it, it can actually make it quite entertaining! I'd be very surprised
is this wasn't the number one haunt for single students too because
it's free!
What's
different about it?
You
can see members profiles on the home page and on every page, so
they start luring you in before you are even registered
What
does it cost?
Free
to join. Then there are two ways of sending emails. Either join
up to paid membership (anything from £19.99 for 3 months)
or you can send them with credits, an email 'costs' 1000 credits
(which I earnt without even noticing) and you earn more by doing
any of a number of advertiser related activities. So in other words,
if you don't want to spend any money, but want to try a dating site,
this is the perfect place as it's the only truly free dating website
that I have come across.
What
makes it special?
They
email you regularly with details and photos of new members who match
your search criteria, even listing how many miles away from you
they are which is very neat! This would actually give them the edge
over some of the other online agencies were it not for the fact
that a lot of the photos coming through have been at the best very
strange! I've had photos of flowers, close ups of people's noses
and pictures of animals! Haven't seen one yet who's got me excited!
What's
the down side?
I
personally found the advertisers questions you get asked as part
of the sign up process a little laborious. I know they have to make
money, but if I hadn't been joining for research purposes I would
have been inclined to give up rather than fill out drop down forms
about my dishwasher powder. Be careful as well to make sure that
you opt out of the advertisers mail out if you don't want to be
bombarded. Although all credit to them as soon as I chose to unsubscribe,
the mailings did stop. Probably my error in not ticking the correct
box to start with.
