After a glass
of bubbly and some nibbles you sit down for dinner, places are assigned
and the hosts join you for the meal. The dinner is a seven course
French inspired affair and the portions are the perfect size with
couple of smaller courses serving as palate refreshers between the
bigger dishes.
Dinner
flashes by and it's midnight before you know, at this point Julie
& Charlie turn into pumpkins (!) and the LITK guests hit the
clubs of Brighton.
Who
does it attract?
Obviously
a lot of people from Brighton, but some from further a field. The
real beauty of this event is that it doesn't attract the verbally
restricted! Sad singles who might be able to pull off a 3 minute
speed date would not suit this type of evening. You need a life
and opinions and that's exactly the crowd LITK attracts.
What's
different about it?
It
does not feel like a dating event. Nobody discussed their love lives
and no one said "have you done anything like this before?".
It's just a group of people getting together for a good meal and
some new company.
What
does it cost?
£60.
Which may seem steep next to a speed dating night, but it's well
worth it for the food alone. Single
men who aren't skilled in the kitchen should be attending this just
to get a good meal!
What
makes it special?
Superb
food, great company and relaxed environment. I haven't laughed so
much ages and I met some great people.
What's
the down side?
Purely
looking at the numbers, it is less people than speed dating and
more money.
Any
tricks I need to know?
Don't
drive, but do dress up!
