How does it work?

You an search through the menu pages of the profiles without even registering. So you don't have to do as much as create a login before you are sure you like the look of the people who are members. Once registered, you can create a profile, which includes sections on 'What I'm like and who I'm looking for' and upload up to 3 photos. Then when you're signed in you can read as many profiles as you wish and start sending 'flirts'.

There's a 'my boys/girls' section which acts as a favourites facility where you can save the profiles of people you like and the next time they log on they will see you've added them to their favourites.

Who does it attract?

If it wasn't run by a well established company I'd swear something funny was going on. There are genuinely lots of lovely looking guys with good jobs and interesting lives registered on this site...crikey, so that's where they've been hiding!

What's different about it?

Because it's run by a speed dating company there is the potential to arrange to meet people at an event and the kind of people who sign up to the service tend to be the kind of people who go speed dating, rather than the kind who stay at home in front of computer screens! So they are a livelier, younger and more up for it bunch of people!

It is free to set up a profile and search for people on the website. You only have to pay if you want to send and receive messages. The costs are currently as follows:

What makes it special?

It's free and easy to join and full of gorgeous singles!

Some dating website automatically bill you at the end of your membership period. SpeedDater Online doesn't.

What's the down side?

As it's not run by a huge multinational company (like Dating Direct or Match.com) there are probably thousands of members rather than hundreds of thousands...

Any tricks I need to know?

Only profiles with 'good quality photos' appear on the home page search (the free search you do before you register) which explains why you see so many professional looking photos to start with
